Before your website even matters for local search, your Google Business Profile needs to be claimed, verified, and fully filled in — correct address, phone number, business hours, and photos. For most local searches ("boutique near RS Puram", "website designer in Tiruppur"), this profile shows up before your actual website does.
Your city name, used correctly on the page
A homepage that never mentions "Coimbatore" or "Tiruppur" anywhere in its text makes it harder for Google to confidently match your site to local searches. This doesn't mean stuffing the city name everywhere — it means your service area is stated naturally in your headline, about section, and contact details, the way my own Coimbatore and Tiruppur pages are built.
Mobile speed, tested on an actual phone
Most of your customers will open your site on a mid-range Android phone on mobile data, not a laptop on fast wifi. A site that loads in two seconds on your office wifi can take eight or more seconds on a slower connection — and most visitors won't wait that long. Test your own site on mobile data, not just wifi, before you call it launch-ready.
A checklist to run through
- Google Business Profile claimed, verified, and matching your website's business name exactly.
- Phone number and WhatsApp link clickable on mobile, not just displayed as text.
- City and service area mentioned naturally in your homepage text and page titles.
- Photos that are actually yours — real product or storefront photos outperform stock images for both trust and local search.
- A contact form or enquiry button visible without scrolling on a phone screen.
- Site tested on mobile data, not just office wifi.
