"How much for a website?" is usually the first question I get, and the honest answer is a range, not one number. Here's what that range actually looks like in 2026, and why two websites that look similar on the outside can cost very differently.
The short answer
For a straightforward business website or online store in India, you're typically looking at:
- Single landing page — from ₹5,999, built to turn ad clicks or Instagram traffic into enquiries.
- Multi-page business website (custom HTML or WordPress) — from ₹12,000, usually 5 pages with your services, about and contact details.
- Shopify store — from ₹15,000 for up to 40 products on a clean theme, or from ₹20,000 for a custom-themed store with more products.

What actually changes the price
Within each of those bands, a few things move the number up or down:
- Number of pages or products. A 3-page site costs less than a 10-page one; a 40-product store costs less than a 300-product catalogue.
- Design work. A templated layout is faster than a fully custom design built around your brand colours, photography and fonts.
- Content readiness. If your product photos, descriptions and prices are ready to go, the build is faster. If I need to help write copy or source images, that adds time.
- Integrations. Payment gateways, WhatsApp ordering, booking calendars, shipping rate setup and GST invoicing all add setup time on top of the base build.
Hidden costs people forget to budget for
The build cost is rarely the only cost. Before you compare quotes, check whether these are included or separate:
- Domain name — usually ₹500 to ₹1,500 a year, bought in your name.
- Hosting — free on Shopify (bundled into its monthly plan) and WordPress, but WordPress hosting runs roughly ₹1,500 to ₹5,000 a year depending on traffic.
- Shopify's own monthly fee — separate from my build fee, this is what Shopify charges you directly to run the store.
- Paid apps — some Shopify features (advanced reviews, subscriptions, wholesale pricing) need paid apps billed monthly by their developers.
- Ongoing updates — see website maintenance if you'd rather not handle small fixes yourself.
A cheap website can be the expensive choice
I've rebuilt sites for business owners who paid very little upfront and then got stuck: no one could edit the site, the "developer" had disappeared, or the domain was registered in someone else's name. A fair price buys you a site built on a platform you control, with your name on the domain and hosting account, and someone who'll actually answer your messages after launch.
How I quote a project
Every project starts with a free call to understand what you sell and how you currently take orders. From that, you get a written quote with a fixed price and timeline before any work begins — not an estimate that grows once you've committed. Get a free quote and I'll reply with a price range within 24 hours.
Quick answers
Is a ₹5,999 landing page actually enough for my business?
For a single focused goal — ad traffic, an Instagram bio link, or a simple enquiry page — yes. For a full catalogue or online store, you'll want the ₹12,000-plus or Shopify tiers instead.
Do Shopify stores have monthly fees on top of the build cost?
Yes. My fee covers the design and build; Shopify's own subscription (billed by Shopify, not me) covers hosting, checkout and payment processing for as long as your store is live.
Why do some agencies quote ₹50,000 or more for a similar-looking site?
Usually scope: more pages, custom animation work, copywriting, photography, or ongoing retainer support bundled into the price. Always compare what's included, not just the final number.
Can the price change after the project starts?
Only if you ask for work outside the original scope, and even then it's quoted and approved before I start — never added to the final bill as a surprise.
